Music of the Mystics: Sufi Qawwali Night with Fanna-Fi-Allah

Fanna-Fi-Allah presents Sufi Qawwali, high-energy classical devotional music rooted in the shrine culture and mystical poetry of South Asia. Now in their 27th year of international touring, the ensemble comes to Lisbon for the first time, offering an intense and deeply immersive concert experience.

Led by Tahir Qawwal and supported by a masterful ensemble of harmonium, tabla, and choral vocals, the performance stays true to traditional Qawwali, with no fusion, electronics, or pop crossover. The music draws on the poetry of great Sufi saints and poets, delivered through driving handclaps, soaring chorus lines, and trance-inducing rhythmic cycles that build a communal, ecstatic atmosphere. Though born in the Sufi Islamic tradition, this music welcomes everyone, regardless of background or belief, into a shared space of unity and divine love.
